Welcome to Scrapbook Island

Hi, my name is Laurie Jimenez. I am a mom, a wife and the owner of the Island. Since I can remember, I have enjoyed making crafts. When I was just a 4th grader I sold my crafts at a holiday Christmas faire. Do you remember the ever popular pom pom refrigerator magnets? Yep, a big hit I'm sure!

As a young adult, I was making beautiful dried flower decorations and selling them at the local Crafters Village. After I had my first child, I quit working with dried flowers and started a new hobby called Rubber Stamping. I loved it, and signed up to sell rubber stamps with a company called D.O.T.S. which is now called Close To My Heart. This company introduced me to Scrapbooking and I've loved it ever since.

After being a stay at home Mom for years, I decided to go back to work. I tried many different jobs that I was interested in but, nothing really stuck. Then in 2002 I saw a sign in a store next to Walgreens that said, "Scrapbook Store coming soon, Now Hiring!" I turned in my application right away and was hired to work 3 days a week while my kids were in school. I got so much experience working with Anne, and the crew that I often thought I would like to own a Scrapbook store one day. I told Anne that if she ever wanted a partner to let me know.

In late 2004 Anne asked me if I would like to buy the store. WHAT??? I was sooo scared, but it was a dream I had to try. Timing was rough. My husband had just been laid-off and money was tight. I decided, with encouragement from my husband and my kids, to give it a try. In January 2005 Scrapbook Island became my dream come true. I love all the products and the excitement scrapbooking brings! I have to say that Paper is my biggest Love. You can do sooo much with one sheet of 12x12 paper, It's amazing!
